Crittenton Center receives grant from Variety – the Children’s Charity
Sioux City, IA: Crittenton Center has received a grant from Variety – the Children’s Charity to purchase recreation equipment for the emergency youth shelter called the Crittenton’s Center Transitional Therapeutic Home.
The Variety grant will be used to purchase kayaks, paddle boats and a trailer. The project is designed to provide youth with the opportunity to try new recreation and leisure activities, gain new skills, and discover more about who they are as individuals and who they are as a member of a team, while having fun! There is strong evidence that extracurricular activities increase self-esteem and positive social behaviors among children and adolescents.
“On behalf of Crittenton Center we are so grateful to Variety – The Children’s Charity of Iowa, this grant will allow us to help our children have an opportunity for nature-based fun and to just be a kid. Without partnerships like this we wouldn’t be able to provide the high level of care we do at our home.” said Kim Scorza, Executive Director at Crittenton Center.
