Windmills & Wedges: Golf for OC Kids

A Community Golf Tournament Benefiting Orange City Child Care

On Friday, July 31, 2026, community members, golfers, businesses, and supporters will gather at Landsmeer Golf Club for the inaugural Windmills & Wedges: Golf for OC Kids — a golf tournament fundraiser supporting Crittenton Center’s Orange City Child Care program.

Inspired by Orange City’s Dutch roots and strong sense of community, Windmills & Wedges is more than a golf tournament — it’s an investment in local children and families.

Whether you are joining us on the course, sponsoring a hole, or supporting the mission behind the event, every swing helps create brighter futures for OC kids.

THE COURSE

Meaning “Lake of the Land”, in the Dutch language, Landsmeer reflects the unique Dutch heritage of Orange City and the nature of the golf course. Golfers playing the course at Landsmeer will enjoy a public 18-hole championship golf course with extensive practice facilities that include driving range, designated chipping area and putting green.

The prairie-style course sprawls over 160 acres of rolling Iowa hills, and features bent grass greens and bluegrass fairways. The holes are lined with tall native grasses, providing a rippling lake effect to players. Lakes and streams offer challenges on the front nine, while a links-style atmosphere is found on the back side.

Exceptional Golf. Dutch Hospitality.

THE CAUSE

Proceeds from Windmills & Wedges will directly benefit Crittenton Center's Orange City Child Development Center.

Funds raised help provide:

  • Safe and nurturing childcare
  • Early childhood learning experiences
  • Resources for children and families
  • Support for working parents
  • Enriching developmental opportunities for OC Kids

For families, quality childcare is important as it safeguards a child’s health and safety, promotes their development, and prepares them for school. For a parent, it means a balance between work and family, and gives parents peace of mind and the ability to enter and remain in the workforce. For employers and the business community, it means a larger, more productive, and more stable workforce. For the community, an investment in childcare means improved child safety – research shows that the lack of reliable, affordable, and accessible childcare negatively impacts family wellbeing and increases the risk of child maltreatment.
