On Thursday, November 21st, Crittenton Center is proud to announce the receipt of a $15,000 holiday grant from the Missouri River Historical Development (MHRD). This generous grant will enable Crittenton Center to purchase much-needed supplies for its shelter, including educational curriculum, therapeutic resources, and essential items tailored to support the increasing number of younger children seeking refuge.

Over the past few months, Crittenton Center has observed a notable rise in the number of younger children coming to the Transitional Therapeutic Home (shelter). This grant will allow the organization to better meet the needs of these vulnerable children, providing them with critical educational and emotional support to foster stability, resilience, and healing.

“The funds from MHRD come at a crucial time,” said Kim Scorza, CEO of Crittenton Center. “We’ve seen a growing need to offer specialized resources for our “littles”, and this grant will directly impact our ability to provide them with a nurturing and supportive environment. We’re deeply grateful to MHRD, and the nomination of Gary Niles, for recognizing the importance of this work and stepping up to assist during the holiday season.”

With the support of the MHRD grant, Crittenton Center plans to expand its educational curriculum programs and therapeutic activities specifically designed for children in their formative years. These resources will help children develop essential skills, build healthy relationships, and process their experiences in a safe and encouraging space.

In addition to curriculum and therapeutic materials, the funding will also be used to purchase basic supplies, ensuring that each child has access to the necessities required for a stable and comfortable stay at the shelter.

Crittenton Center remains committed to its mission of serving vulnerable children and families in northwest Iowa, ensuring that every child receives the support they need to thrive. This holiday grant from MHRD reinforces Crittenton Center’s dedication to fostering a community of care, compassion, and opportunity for all children.
