Strong families are the foundation of strong communities, and Crittenton Center is committed to ensuring parents have the resources and support they need during the earliest years of their child's life.
Through a five-year Shared Visions Parent Support grant from the Iowa Department of Education, Crittenton Center will continue providing educational support services for families with children from birth to age five across Plymouth, Sioux, and Woodbury counties.
Services are delivered through Crittenton Center's Family Resource Center, which is accredited by the Iowa Family Support Network. The Shared Visions Parent Support Program is designed to strengthen parenting skills, promote healthy child development, and connect families with community resources that help children and families thrive.
Families participating in the program have access to education and support in areas such as:
- Parenting skills
- Child growth and development
- Positive guidance techniques
- Nutrition
- Family resource management
- Parent literacy
- Connections to local resources and supportive services
"Our goal is to empower parents with the tools, confidence, and support they need to build strong foundations for their children," said Kim Scorza, CEO of Crittenton Center. "Every family deserves access to trusted resources during the earliest years of a child's life, and this grant allows us to continue expanding those opportunities throughout our region."
The program serves families throughout Plymouth, Sioux, and Woodbury counties, where Crittenton Center has a longstanding presence through its child development centers, Family Resource Center, emergency youth shelter, foster care programming, and homelessness outreach services.
By investing in parents early, the Shared Visions Parent Support Program helps create healthier families, stronger communities, and brighter futures for children throughout northwest Iowa.
